One of the leading and credible financial institutions in the country, Skye Bank (Sierra Leone) Limited, on Friday 1st May, 2020 donated the sum of Le150M (One hundred and fifty million Leones) in cash, ten hospital beds, ten hand washing Milla tanks, 10 microphones and 50 packets of face masks to the Emergency Operations Centre at Cockerill in Freetown.
Presenting the items to members of the EOC, the Managing Director of Skye Bank, Oluyemi Bakare fondly called Baba, noted that if Corona virus is to be defeated, it should be the collective efforts from both the Government and the private sector.
He observed that the Corona virus pandemic has crippled major financial, economic as well as political, social and religious activities across the world and at present, financial institutions are going through difficult and trying times to stay afloat.
“Covid-19 fight is a collective fight and Skye Bank as a responsible financial institution takes its corporate social responsibility seriously and therefore should not be left out in that fight…We really appreciate the efforts of the Government and partners in tackling the spread of this insidious disease”, the Managing Director said.
The Managing Director was accompanied to the donation ceremony by a galaxy of top officials of the bank including Mr. Ikubolaje Nicol (Assistant General Manager), Mr. Akinremi A. Oladipo (Executive Director) and a member of the Board of Directors of the bank.
Receiving the donations on behalf of the Government, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. Edward Suluku alias Solution, said that Skye Bank has demonstrated what they stand for as a corporate institution and so far, Government is getting the necessary support from corporate houses.
He assured the Bank that the items donated will be used for their intended purpose.
